With how hot it has been lately, we decided to have a morning party with breakfast burritos and pools for the kids. We also celebrated with Heather's cousin, who turned one a few days after her.
The party was a success and surprisingly, we had a lot of family here. We had the normal Provo clan and then added my parents, my sister and her family who were visiting from Oregon, Paul's brother and his family who were visiting from Colorado, and then Heather's cousin had some out of town family visiting as well that made it to the party.
The pools were a little chilly since we set them up in the shade, but after awhile the kids were splashing around and getting wet.
Heather wasn't too sure about how to open presents. We should have practiced. Luckily, some of the older kids were quick to help. :)
When it came time for Heather's cake, well, cupcake, I couldn't find the matches. So, we sang without a lit candle. No wish this year for Heather, I guess. Heather was quite reserved with the cupcake. She was more interested in dipping the candle in and out of the cupcake and licking it off. She did not want to give that candle up so eventually it was replaced with a spoon. I am not sure how much cake she ate, but by the end, she was covered in it.
After the party my parents had to leave to start the drive back home. We sure enjoyed having them visit with us and they DEFINITELY helped plan a great party. Just a cute little side note, every time we went somewhere with my parents they had to drive a separate car (since we all couldn't fit in one) and Katelyn would ask repeatedly, "Where's Papa Berglers?" I think she was afraid they would get lost or something.
Later that evening Heather had her first movie experience as we went to the movies with Paul's family. We took our chances on the dollar theater in case she didn't last long, which was a good idea because after about 30 minutes she was out in the hall with Pito (Paul's dad).
Oh, and here are Heather's measurements:
She us a tall, skinny thing!
I cannot imagine our family without little Heather. She is a ball of energy and we tease that she is going to be the one to give us grey hairs. But all those grey hairs will be worth it because we sure do love her!
