In July we went on a trip to Colorado to meet up with some of Paul's family. We stayed at a campsite and had lots of fun! One of the first adventures was horseback and pony riding. Katelyn was able to go on the long horse ride with Paul while I stayed back with Heather and Zac to ride ponies.
Katelyn rode a horse named Lightning. I was a little nervous for her, but she did awesome once she learned how to make the horse go forward! Heather and Zac rode a pony named Nibbles. Nibbles was a difficult pony who was ready for lunch and wanted nothing to do with us. It was a bit frustrating as I was left (with no supervision) to pull this pony around a trail that didn't want to budge while keeping tabs on the kids and being pregnant and hot. But, it was worth it to see how much fun they had. Well, Heather at least. Zac sat on the pony for about 30 seconds - long enough to take a picture - then wanted off. So Heather ended up taking the rest of Zac's time.
Heather kept calling herself a pony girl. Needless to say, she loved it!
We made sure to spend some time in the craft room at the campsite and the girls were able to make some mugs and Zac painted a bird. It was a fun switch-up to the outdoor adventures.
Paul and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary up in the mountains so the best we could do was take a picture together. Hah! We also managed to get a group shot of the cousins who were there on Sunday.
The campsite had a playground and we all put it to good use. We took a few trips to the pool, too, but I didn't snap any pictures there.
The kids were being cute on our way to breakfast one morning. I just love moments like these!
After the campsite stay, we traveled to visit more family and had a great time together! The kids played and put on SEVERAL dance performances (like really, my phone was overloaded with performance clips - too many to edit and post, but know that the girls loved dressing in costumes! I even got a few glimpses of Zac showing off his moves).
We hit up a fun splash pad on July 4th and were even invited to eat lunch at another church's BBQ. The food and hospitality were appreciated by all. The girls were too busy playing with cousins most of the time so Zac was my only model.
On the night of the 4th, the kids got to watch fireworks and do their own sparklers. We also made sure to celebrate Heather's birthday that night since some family had to leave in the morning. Heather requested rainbow ice cream.
For Heather's actual birthday, we planned a pool day with some of the cousins. The kids loved the water slide and we topped the day off with pizza.
We definitely enjoyed the time away and loved being with family! It was a perfect summer vacation!
